James B. Thompson, Jr.
Mr.
Thompson received Bachelor of Science and Juris
Doctorate degrees from the University of Florida in 1987
and 1990, respectively. He then received a LL.M. in
taxation from the Emory University School of Law, and
thereafter practiced with the Department of Justice as a
civil trial attorney for four and a half years.
Since
entering private practice, Mr. Thompson has practiced in
the areas of insurance coverage, motor vehicle
liability, premise liability, professional malpractice,
long term care, and business and civil rights
litigation. He regularly consults with clients in areas
of employment and contract law, and further provides
representation in cases involving insurance coverage and
bad faith issues.
Mr.
Thompson is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the
Florida Bar and rated “a.v.” by Martindale-Hubbell. He
has successfully defended lawsuits at both trial and
appellate levels, and is licensed to practice in all
Florida State Courts, the United States District Court
for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida and the
Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeal.
Mr. Thompson is a
member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate
Counsel, Defense Research Institute, the Florida Defense
Lawyers Association and the St. Petersburg Bar
Association.
